Every Scorpion Bow String is made to exacting standards, using only the finest materials available. We start with BCY X as our base material. End-servings and roller serving use .014 BCY Halo for durability and separation resistance. We use G2 Braid XS for the nock serving as we have found this to be one of the longest wearing and most durable serving materials on the market.
Each strand of the bowstring goes through a tensioner onto our CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) layup machine for an exact start with even tension and no loose strands. This high-precision machine allows us to achieve sizing accuracy of one thousandth of an inch (approximately 1/3 the thickness of a sheet of paper). While some string makers may be willing to settle for "good enough", we believe that by maintaining the highest standards of quality, our customers can achieve the best results possible.
The next step in the process of building a Scorpion Bowstring is performed at our stretching station. Stretching of bowstring material is done at a tightly controlled weight setting chosen specifically based upon the composition of the bowstring material. The duration of the stretching is also critical to building a quality string that doesn't stretch or twist. By taking these variables into account and tightly controlling them, we are able to construct a very consistent product from one string to the next.
Once the strands have been carefully stretched, the next step in the construction process is to twist them into a string. The twisting process is critical in getting the most overall strength and stabilityfrom the material. The strands are twisted together in two separate bundles, with careful attention paid to the lay of each strand. By creating a perfect twist, forces are distributed evenly among the strands.
The final process in the creation of a Scorpion Bowstring is application of the serving material. The strings are stretched to 200 pounds of tension for this procedure. The serving material is passed through a tensioning wand while being applied to the string in order to achieve consistent pressure with every rotation. This combination produces a stiff serving that just doesn't separate or unravel.
Last, but definitely not least, each bowstring is carefully inspected for quality and packaged for shipment. With the purchase of a Scorpion Bowstring you can rest assured that you are buying the best.
